Slightly kitschy and pompous Viennese hothouse style.
I agree with that assessment. I like it. I saw some photographs of Makart's atelier at the recent big exhibition of his works in the Belvedere [they’re also in the catalogue]: the interior of it was absolutely –and excellently- over-stuffed crazy 19th century-madness!
