Recommended translations in English are: Cleary, Henricks, Mair, Mitchell, Yutang of the newer ones, Legge and Waley are already older and Möller, Schwarz and the older Wilhelm of the German ones.

No, and thank you for the recommendations, keep them coming! (I'll maybe look into them, eventually: 'Hence, [t]he sage rejects the one and accepts the other.'). Also quite old but still very good is Marcel Granet's La Pensée Chinoise maybe called 'Chinese Thought' in English?

The translations I suggested are all 'sound, academic works' thus safe to read...

Other good Taoist standard works are the Zhuangzi (very poetic!) and the eclectic Liezi. As a further step one could look into the so-called Nei-yeh and the Baopuzi if one can find it...

Of course one also has to realize that all that is written is of limited usefulness..
