Rainer Maria Rilke
Rilke who really is one of my favourite poets was actually so good at his art that he could make a verse out of any topic may it have been as quotidian or as banal as it could be (Ovid with his, well, boast of ‘whatever I wrote, it came out as verse’ comes to mind, right?)- and this using either a good rhyme or correct meter and an adequate rhythm and thereby elevating and sublimating it; but this at times had the effect that a few of his efforts seem inadvertently comical to me. And: of course I don’t have an example of this. Read him and find out for yourself! It’s quite pleasurable, too.

Rilke's poetry is one of the finest you can find in German language. I'm especially fond of "Herbsttag" which is probably among my top ten of poems. There is also a very interesting book about his relationship with Lou Andreas-Salomé, read it some years ago, however, cannot remember its proper title at the moment.
Whenever I think of Rilke, I also remember my English/German teacher, who wrote a book about the poet. That teacher was what I would call a "harter Hund", very strict and authoritarian. He was also the only one who always wore a suit at school. Come to think of it, I learned a lot from him.

That sounds like an interesting book!
I wish there would be more teachers like the one you describe.
